League and Playoff Participation Policy
Adult-League Participation Rules for Juniors

Junior aged players who are 16 years of age or older (ages 16 or 17 during that calendar year) may join an adult league team provided they are accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or other Responsible Adult who is playing on the same team. The parent or Responsible Adult can be playing on the same team or supervising from the sideline, but MUST be present for the duration of all games played by the Junior, with HUC. In addition:
  • A Responsible Adult, who is not a parent or legal guardian, can only be responsible for up to three (3) Junior players and must be authorized by the parent or legal guardian of each Junior in order to fulfill this role.
  • Parents or legal guardians can be responsible for any number of Junior players for which they are parents or legal guardians. In addition, they can be responsible for up to three (3) Junior players for which they are not a parent/legal guardian.
Any Junior player who is 15 years of age or younger at any point during an adult league, is NOT eligible to participate in HUC adult leagues. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of the HUC Executive.

Adult-League Participation Rules for Guests *guests must sign a paper copy of the Waiver and Concussion Code of Conduct before stepping on the field.
  • A team may play a regular season game with at most three (3) non-member players, with the full disclosure to the opposing captain and acceptance by that captain. In this way we can allow for newly recruited players, out-of-town visitors, or occasional pick-up players. Captains are encouraged to recruit substitute players from lower level teams or leagues in that season

  • Players may not be listed as a regular player on another roster within the same league.

  • Outdoor Leagues: Any non-member player may play a maximum of two (2) regular season games in outdoor leagues. After that point, they must register as a HUC member in order to continue playing and where applicable they must contact HUC and register for that league as well.

  • Indoor Leagues: Any non-member player may play a maximum of one (1) regular season game in normal indoor leagues. After that point, they must register as a HUC member in order to continue playing and where applicable they must contact HUC and register for that league as well.

Playoff Participation Rules

  • Be added to the team roster no later than the league roster deadline

    • Summer League – 2 weeks prior to the start of playoffs

  • Games in a season
  • Number of required regular season games attended
  • 11-15
  • 3 games minimum
  • 7-10
  • 2 games minimum
  • 2-6
  • 1 game minimum
  • Participants may not participate on more than 1 team in the playoffs for the same league, they may only participate on 1 playoff team as a regular player, or as a qualified substitute who is not already participating in the playoffs for the same league. This includes multiple divisions in the same league.
Disciplinary Action
HUC relies on the honour system and on our team captains. Please abide by the Spirit of the Game when dealing with game issues. Remember, free-riding on the backs of registered HUC members is unfair and thus contravenes the Spirit of the Game.
If a team captain refuses a substitute player (according to the above rules), however the opposing captain chooses to play that player anyways, the game should be reported immediately to HUC and could be forfeited.
Substitution Violations
HUC will routinely check rosters during the season and playoffs. If there is a discrepancy we urge teams to report it immediately to our league convenors. If rosters are invalid, teams can be sanctioned.
